Research Interests:
I joined the Dept. of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) in 2012, cross-appointed to IBBME, as an assistant professor, and manage a research group to engineer nano- and microstructured surfaces for biomaterial applications, with a particular focus on bacterial contamination of surfaces. Broadly speaking, we generate nano- and microstructured materials by a range of self-assembly, colloidal printing, lithography, electrospinning and elastomer molding fabrication tools. We have a number of research projects involved with surface wetting and adhesion, and investigate how surface chemistry and topography influence the adhesion mechanisms of bacteria and the growth of stem cells.
